Bernhard FOGRASCHER [RO, GER]

(Hamburg) was born in 1965 in Romania and received his musical studies from the "Meistersinger-Konservatorium Nürnberg", the Hamburg Musikhochschule and the Indiana University Bloomington, U.S.A., where he also began his pedagogical activities. Additional musical influences were masterclasses by György SEBŐK, Gary GRAFFAN, Rudolf KEHRER and Miriam FRIED.

The pianist, receiver of the F.V.S. Masefield Scholarship, has concretised as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany and abroad, and produced recordings for numerous radio stations such as the BR, SWR, WDR, TV Cultural, Radio Difusione Romania as well as the American radio stations WCLV WfIU. From a German "Musikrat" - sponsored Romanian tour came a 2-part television portrait for TV Romania.

Within the framework of his diverse concert activities, Bernhard FOGARSCHER often engages himself for new music as well as rare repertoire and forgotten composers. He was awarded the culture prize of the Herzogtum Lauenburg Foundation for his direction of the chamber music series Moments Musicaux Mölln. He conceived the multimedia marathon Night of the Four Moon in honor of George CRUMB for the Hamburg Musikhochschule.

He has performed with such musicians as Dietrich HENSCHEL, Ingolf TURBAN, Wen-Sinn YANG, the conductors Petre SBARCEA, Cristian BRANCUSI and Markus FRANK as well as with the Hamburger Symphony, the Camera Radio Bukarest Orchestra, Brasov and Sibiu Philharmonic and the Indiana University Symphony Orchestra.

An extensive discography documents the work of the last years: a CD of violin sonatas of the München School with violinist Christoph SCHICKEDANZ was quoted by the FonoForum as "a recording that sets new boundaries", leading the way to numerous chamber performances from duo to septet for bayer records, audite and telos music records.

Bernhard FOGARSCHER teaches at the Bremen and Hamburg Musikhochschulen.
